Singapore Night

After arrive in Changi Airport, with a lots of Indian in line to the immigration, we deposit our heavy Muji in the airport.

Then, we moved to T2 for the local train (MRT) to go Bugis (EW 12). Bugis, Singapore, was surprising, it was dirty, no as much as Taipei Night Market, but it still dirty, where you can see some rubbish on the street and dirty water here and there, together with the Durian smell. (D24 for S$5) . We located the Bugis Backpacker Hostel without any problem, after we check-in to the very crowded 16 mixed bed dorm, we escaped from it.

We went for a walk to the City Hall MRT (EW 13) which is one station away, where we discover SMU (Singapore Management University) and Singapore National Library, (where I am updating the blog right now, and Kanae doing her thesis.) We also passby a very nice hotel which I can’t remember the name but it got a Lamborghini  parked in front of it. Then we crushed into the bar of the hotel and we discover the New Asia at the hotel 70 floor, which is also recommended by my friend and the guide book. But we got kicked out for the dress code.... Errr....

(Updated : I googled the place, it called Swiss Hotel)

Anyway, we moved on and arrived at City Hall / Raffias Hall around 11pm, where everything was closing, even the StarBucks. Errr... We still walk around a bit, before we decide to go to the Hawker Center on the way back, where we found 1/3 of the customer are foreigner like us.

From now on, I have the gut to say that you’re going to be successful in the future... for sure!!! But don’t forget this friend of urs ne~

One more thing I want to tell you, remember the 社長 thing we used to call you? I promise to tell you after graduation but we might not have enough time...
.
..
...
Son told that he wrote 社長 and that you told him the answer...
We found it funny and since then we start calling you 社長. But one thing we have found is that in the future we believe you’ll become this real 社長, not just the name we used to call you no more.

Nick, I remember you most during our mini-BCC with Thapa and Dzung and will forever remember you that way... I’ll be missing you much. Take good care of yourself..

Contact me at xxx-xxxx-xxxx when you and Kanae come to Thailand.. Son and I will take you out...

Globalization

So
-------------------------------------------------

When I doing my reading about "Developing Global Executive" by McCall, Morgan. , half of those executives have some very special early experience.
"My mother was Swiss and my father was Swedish, although he was born in South Africa. As a family we came to Switzerland regularly. I didn't feel special, although my background was remarkable... born in East Africa, raised in South Africa, my father an engineer building bridges" (a Tanzanian in Zurich)
I couldn't know what the different between Swiss, Swedish and Switherland. All i know, they are just somewhere in Europe. In this paragraph if you want me to pin point them in a map, i can only point out South Africa.

Another example from the book is,
"My parents were highly influenced by education; they believed that things worked better abroad and they valued going abroad. It was put into my head that it was a good idea to go and see. And our business gurus had been overseas, so I wanted to do that. Another thing is that all my teachers had been abroad and encouraged us to do that" (an Indian in Singapore)

On the other hand, other half of the successful executives hardly can point out they have special experience in the early age. One stated that
"I grew up in Paris, Texas, where my grandfather ran a department store, there was nothing special. This Asian job was thrust on me. ... They needed someone who could survive" (an American in Hong Kong)
========================================================================================

Anyway, what i think is really important for me, and other student in Tsun Jin or some other private high school are we really fortune to have a bunch of teacher who actually been abroad with a boarder view of the world and pass it on to us.

And I was really lucky to been able to visit/ travel the world with my parent support. So far I have been travel,
  1. Malaysia
  2. Singapore
  3. Thai
  4. Japan
  5. USA
  6. Korea
  7. Taiwan
  8. Hong Kong
I will take that as something special about me. In fact, I did put them in my resume.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One more thing with more impressing for me is I suddenly realize that my ex-GFs' current living location have split over the world.

I last met CYL in Taipei, Taiwan

I last met Wen Hao, who currently finishing her study in Singapore,  in New York .

I last met Ah Yee in Hong Kong as she working hard as a fashion brand buyer.

 The world is flat.

What can I say more?
